Welcome to the new world of E-Learning! The link above will take you to the home page that students use to access their technology programs.
Teachers will be developing their own e-learning lessons and will communicate those with parents and students through Google Classroom. All students in grades K-8 have their own log in credentials to view projects in Google Classroom. Students in 5th grade - 8th grade also have a restricted email address within the Google domain. Log in credentials were sent home with students before break or they were e-mailed to the parents.
Xtra Math Grades 2-8 – Directions to log in to Xtra Math are different than logging in at school. Please follow these directions: They need to click on student tab (on the left) – If a teacher name appears that is not mine – click on “Other” The email address to enter in the space asking for “parent or teacher email” is mine- firstname.lastname@example.org Then you need to type the child’s name exactly as it appears on the card next for the xtra math sticker, (It will be the number, a dash, one space, then the name.) The PIN is the 4 digit number. You can click on the Remember me if you want to. If your child completes all levels assigned to their grade level, I will get an e-mail that they finished it. I will create a new account for you and will send you the new code.
Students in grades 2-5 were given copies of their log in cards with all of their passwords. Middle school students know their log ins. Kindergarten and First grade will probably only use Wixie and they know those passwords. If they forget, email me please.
I am including information about what students in K-5 are currently working on in tech class. Other than 5th grade, these projects are not required for the E-learning tasks. Students can work on these if they choose. 5th grade is working on a research project for Mrs. Pelikan – so that is required!
Wixie – Grades K-4- They should see photos of their teachers. If you don’t see their photos, click on the link that says “Select your teacher” They select their teacher, then their name and log in with the 4 digit password. They should know how to navigate through this with ease.
Pre-K - Students can use the links on their games on the Pre-K page. We have a paid subscription for some sites that will only work within our school. Some of the games that they are used to playing in tech class will be grayed out- those that are not gray, should work.
Kindergarten – ABC Book. Students should be able to navigate to their book. We left off on letter Q. If you have time during your day, you could help them complete other pages in the book. If they have not completed other pages, they can also get caught up on those. They are required to add 6 stickers that start with the letter for each page. They can also add words that start with that letter if they want to, but they still need 6 stickers. We always print these at the end of the year for them to have.
1st grade – Hooray for Fish- They are drawing the photos that go along with this story. I ask them to use a lot of detail and color to their drawings. They are really enjoying this book. Click on the button below to view the file of the book so they can look at it or they can just draw fish to match the words on each page.
2nd grade – Caterpillar Book (or Polar Bear book) They are to draw the pictures in the Polar Bear book and also type the text for Caterpillar book. Click on the button below to look at the books. 3rd grade – Spider Book. They are to draw the photos, type the text, and use the Duplicate feature to add on to their spider web page. Click on the button below to see the book. 4th grade was working on Bloxels last week which cannot be done at home. If they would like, they could use Wixie to write and illustrate a story for me. It can be about anything they choose.
5th grade will be working on their reseach for their Country reports. Instructions will come from Mrs. Pelikan.
The other sites on my home page can be used for extended learning or play: Prodigy: Click on the link that says "Play Prodigy" (Not the log in link to the left of it) Then students can add their name and password.
Free Coding Apps to play with. Kodable – grades K-1-2 Download the free app. choose Home Profile then Register to start your free trial. It will not let you use the school classroom but that's ok. You can have it free for 7 days. Others: Hopscotch, ScratchJr, Lightbot
